You can now track other moguls actions, see who they’re signing, and who they’re dropping.

Mogul Levels
Start off as a Rookie and graduate to a Professional, Silver, Gold, and ultimately a Diamond mogul. Check the “How do points work” section to see the different plateaus and rewards.

Points Change
You can now drop an artist and only lose one point, not all the points that the artist had accumulated for your label. Feel free to drop an artist, but don’t be the one who drops the next big sound.

What started as a project for a few kids that love unsigned music has grown over the past few months to become something much more.

We believe in the power of music to inspire. The site is built for unsigned artists, for music lovers, and for all of us that have a passion to empower people to do things better.

The Next Big Sound allows anyone to act as a record mogul, signing artists they love to their own record label. We want to give artists a clear path to success, help people find great unsigned music, and help fans and artists to connect in a meaningful and unique way.

We have managed to sneek out of the office once or twice this summer.  The highlight was definitely the weekend where we celebrated the soft launch to the initial testers we call “The Sounding Board.” We drove back to Chicagoland almost directly to the theater to see The Dark Night on iMax at 1:30am. We woke up on Saturday, opened our company bank account and went to The Pitchfork Music Festival all day.  It was great getting to see the live show of bands we have been blasting around the office: Fleet Foxes, The Hold Steady, !!!, Vampire Weekend, Dizzie Rascal and Caribou are those that come to mind.

We code by candlelight and live on ramen.

We also ate a jumbo bag of skittles.   All and all it was a day full of significance.
